lol What a way to end the week!
Last night, Aravis had her school Christmas program. I had to work at Rick's, so Muftak and I went to the matinee at 1:00. I just took off from work early. It was very good! They tape it every year, then sell the DVDs later. I wish someone would post each of the performances online somewhere for sharing. They're so great! Aravis is in the drama team and participates in alot of the dance team performances. She was in 3 of the drama/dance performances. They were all very good. She had a solo in one of them...a sign language interpretation. She's improved so much in her presentation...and gotten over a lot of her stage fright, even though she still does get a little nervous beforehand.
At Rick's last night, I had a very interesting evening! I got my first table at about 5:45, almost an hour after I got there! Ugh. The guy was very nicely dressed, though, and carried himself like a business professional. He had 2 people joining him, so I was kind of pumped that, if nothing else, I got at least one good table. Well, he waited and waited...he had ordered a drink and eventually just wandered up into the bar area to watch tv while he waited for his joiners.
About 6:15, he told me to order him some calamari in about 5 mins. So, at 6:20, I ordered him some calamari. At about 6:30, he went ahead and ordered dinner. He was very polite and didn't seem like he was in any rush, which was good. I figured he got stood up or something.
About 3 bites into his dinner, his joiners showed up. It appeared to be his daughter and a friend of hers. They enjoyed dinner and then I presented them their bill. After they left, I picked up the bill from the table and headed over to complete the sale on the computer. He had paid with a credit card and had the signed slip in the ticket book. His total was $84.53. Next to the credit card receipt was....
GET THIS...
3 crisp $20 bills!
Wowzer!!!
I had to look at it for awhile before it sunk in.
He left me a $60 tip on an $84 tab!
Merry Christmas to me!!!!
The other two servers working with me last night were both like, "WOAH! Nice goin'!"
It's times like those as a server that really makes it hard to quit.

Thanks for coming by, my friend. I'm sorry I've been an absentee friend. Things will settle soon. If I don't get to talk to you soon, have a very wonderful Christmas.
Wow, you are patient and patience is rewarded!
Do something nice for yourself my friend!
I LOVED those kinds of evenings when I was a server...one time I had a customer leave me a personal check (and it was actually good!) that I SO needed as the next day was Junior registration at the college and I was about $75 short in the account to register. Her check made up the difference...an major unexpected blessing! HOORAY!!!
They added a little more to the evening performance at the school...something about the tuxes on the guys make all the difference :)
